Product Details Sow Method Direct Sow Sun Full Sun Height  5-6 feet Spread 12-18 inches Ornamental Use Beds. Container. Cut Flowers Life Cycle Annual  Growing Information Sunflowers are grown from seed sown directly in the garden after frost. Direct sow seeds in average soil in full sun after all danger of frost. When choosing a site consider that sunflowers need a well-drained soil.  They face the sun. so make sure they are in an open area of the garden. The taller varieties will cast shadows on other plants. so plant these at the north end of your garden. Prepare the soil by removing weeds and working organic matter into the top 6-8 inches of soil; then level and smooth. Most plants respond well to soils amended with organic matter. Compost is a wonderful form of organic matter with a good balance of nutrients and an ideal pH level. it can be added to your planting area at any time. If compost is not available. top dress the soil after planting with 1-2 inches of organic mulch. which will begin to breakdown into compost. After the growing season. a soil test will indicate what soil amendments are needed for the following season. Sow seeds ½ inch deep in groups of 2 or 3 seeds. Space the groups 18-24 inches apart. depending on the variety. Firm soil lightly. water and keep evenly moist. Seedlings will emerge in 7-10 days. Thin to one plant per group when seedlings have two sets of leaves. Keep weeds under control during the growing season. Weeds compete with plants for water. space and nutrients. so control them by either cultivating often or use a mulch to prevent their seeds from germinating.  Mulches also help retain soil moisture and maintain even soil temperatures. For annuals an organic mulch of shredded leaves lends a natural look to the bed and will improve the soil as it breaks down in time. Always keep mulches off a plant's stems to prevent possible rot. Keep soil evenly moist but not wet. Once established sunflowers can tolerate drought. No fertilizer is needed unless the soil is poor. Do not over fertilize. Monitor for pests and diseases. Check with your local Cooperative Extension Service for pest controls recommended for your area. Some varieties only produce one bloom so once the bloom is spent. the plant may be removed. Remove plants after they are killed by frost in fall to avoid disease issues the following year. Edible sunflowers will mature in about 3 months or more after sowing. To harvest the seeds. cut the heads off after the stalks are quite dry but before fall or winter rains come. Check the flower heads for maturity to see if the florets in the center of the flower disk have shriveled and the back of the flower head is turning yellow. or the head is starting to droop. Cut flower-heads with a foot of the stalk attached. Hang heads in a warm. dry. well-ventilated place so the seeds may fully ripen and dry. Cheesecloth. netting or a paper bag with holes punched in for ventilation should be placed over the head to protect the seeds and to collect those that may drop from drying. Shorter varieties may be grown in containers. Be sure to use a commercial potting mix. Pollenless varieties make terrific cut flowers.

Tracking number for every order 99.7% of Reviewers Recommends This Product. Payments Via PayPal® and CreditCard. Shipping >>Worldwide Express Shipping Available   50 Pcs RARE MEXICAN HAT SEEDS   Description:Aptly named. this popular wildflower sports bright red and yellow petals beneath the tall center cone. This perennial is a native of the Great Plains. and so does well in hot. dry conditions. Native coneflowers have a reputation for establishing themselves in soil that few other plants would tolerate. They have a long-lived persistence. and also attract butterflies and songbirds. English naturalist Thomas Nuttall first documented this species on one of his many expeditions throughout western America. The Latin name "columnifera" means "column." referring to the prominent center of each blossom. Sowing: Direct sow in late fall. pressing into the surface of the soil since this plant needs light to germinate. For spring planting. mix the seeds with moist sand and store in the refrigerator for 30 days before planting. Keep the soil lightly moist until germination. which usually takes 3-4 weeks. The seeds can also be started indoors 8-10 weeks before planting in spring. Keep seedlings lightly moist. and transplant them as soon as they have developed several leaves. Growing: Water seedlings regularly until they become established. and control weeds. When grown from seed. these plants usually begin blooming in their second year. Mature plants tolerate drought well and flourish in fairly dry soil. though they will benefit from occasional watering in dry weather. The blooming period tends to be longer with occasional watering. Mature plants can be divided every 2-3 years for healthy growth. This plant attracts butterflies and repels deer. as well as growing well in rocky. sandy. or clay soil. It makes an excellent choice for hot. dry areas. Harvesting: For cut flowers. choose stems with flowers that have just opened. Strip the foliage that will fall below the water level. and place in water immediately. Seed Saving: After the petals fall from the blossom. the cone will darken and develop ripe seed. As soon as the seed turns nearly black and can be rubbed loose from the cone. cut the ripe cones from the plant and spread them to dry. Thresh the plant material to separate the seed from the stems. Store the seed in a cool. dry place.   4 GREAT REASONS TO BUY FROM US Our Guarantee  We truly believe we carry some of the most innovative products in the world. and we want to make sure we back that up with a risk-free 90-day guarantee.  If you don't have a positive experience for ANY reason. we will do WHATEVER it takes to make sure you are 100% satisfied with your purchase.  Buying items online can be a daunting task. so we want you to realize that there are absolutely ZERO risks in buying something and trying it out.  If you don't like it. no hard feelings we'll make it right.  We have 24/7/365 Ticket and Email Support. Product Details Sow Method Direct Sow Sun Full Sun Height  3-4 feet Spread 15-30 inches Ornamental Use Beds.

Description 50+ Indigo Pear Drops Tomato Seeds! Heirloom. Open Pollinated. All Natural. Non GMO! Limited Quantity! The 1″ pear-shaped fruits have purple/black shoulders at maturity due to high anthocyanin levels. Excellent sweet flavor. Huge yields of 7 gram fruits under ideal growing conditions. Bred by Dr. Jim Myers at Oregon State using traditional plant breeding techniques. The fruits draw their color from the wild tomatoes found in the Galapagos Islands and Peru.Indeterminate. 65 days from transplant. It takes full sun and organic rich. well-draining soil to grow these delicious tomatoes. Sow them indoors 6 weeks before the date of your last frost for best results (but you can also sow them directly in the soil when the danger of frost is passed). Sow seeds 1/8 inch deep and place flats or containers in a warm location of 65 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit (18-23 C.) for quick germination. Seeds germinate in 7-14 days. Keep containers moderately moist. Transplant outdoors after hardening off when all danger of frost is past. Tomatoes have a unique ability to grow extra roots along their stems. which helps the plant to become better established and take up nutrients. so it is wise to dig a deep hole and plant the tomato so that the bottom few inches of stem are below the soil line. Space plants 30 to 36 inches apart and set up stake or cages to train plants as they grow. Plants are happiest in soil that's well-draining with a pH level of 6.2 to 6.5.They require a full sunlight location – a minimum of six hours per day.Refrain from planting until the chance of frost is past. Use a cloche or plant cover to protect new seedlings if adverse weather sets in (i.e. cold. wet. and windy conditions).Be sure to leave ample room between planting holes – the fruit may be small. but the plants can grow big and bushy.Set your cages or stakes in place when planting to avoid disturbing the roots later. If you're growing container plants on a balcony. tie the stems to the railing to eliminate the need for cages or stakes. When planting. pluck the lowest stems and shoots from the main stalk. Then bury the plant close to the lowest remaining set of leaves. one to two inches away. The buried. stripped stalk will produce more roots for stronger growth. To prevent future problems like blossom end rot. mix a small handful of lime or Epsom salts into the planting hole. together with compost. Both increase magnesium levels. which can be blocked by high concentrations of calcium and potassium in the soil.Pinch out suckers as they appear. to redirect energy into fruit production. These are the small branches that appear in the “V” formed between the main stalk and branches. Plants perform best with a deep weekly watering rather than frequent light watering.Harvest when the fruits have changed to their expected color. This can be from six to 10 weeks after pollination. depending on the weather and the varieties you've chosen.We. at The Mossy Old Cottage are lovers of beauty. flavor. variety. wildcrafting. handmade and homegrown stuff. and we are excited to share with you what we create. grow. or gather from the wilderness! Blue tomatoes are actually closer to black but they contain the same anthocyanins found in blueberries. They are an intense black color when exposed to full sun. Whatever part of the tomato is facing the sun. will be jet black. This means that is oh have it growing in full sun. you find to have tomatoes that are almost entirely black. The insides are a beautiful contrasting red. These are a cherry type in size and are sweet and delicious with “plummy” overtones. 50/100Pcs 'Night Sky' Petunia Seeds

    Next day delivery

'Night Sky' is the prettiest petunia you'll grow this summerIts gorgeous purple flowers and white star-flecks bloom all season long. Of course. petunias are easy-to-grow annuals popular for adding lasting color to your garden or patio during the summer. Their bright purple petals are interspersed with white. and pure purple varieties certainly exist. but the starry effect of white dots on "Night Sky" is totally mesmerizing. How to Grow a 'Night Sky' PetuniaPetunias are annuals. so they only last the growing season. Luckily. once they bloom. they will keep blooming for months until the first fall frost. "Night Sky" petunias tend to start blooming in the summer and continue into the fall. Plant them in a sunny location with at least six hours of direct sunlight a day. Any less and your plants will produce fewer flowers. Petunias are drought tolerant. but don't like to be planted in moist soil. so if you're growing in a yard. be sure to choose a well-drained spot. If you are planting them in containers or hanging baskets. allow the top of the soil to dry out before watering again (some growers may require daily watering). Since petunias require a lot of energy to bloom almost constantly. they also need to be grown in rich soil rich in organic matter to provide the nutrients they need. Fertilizing them regularly will also help the plants continue to bloom; use a balanced 10-10-10 fertilizer every two weeks for containers and every three weeks for petunias planted in the garden. They shouldn't need too many dead spots. as used flowers usually fall off on their own. but you can give it a light pruning mid-season if the stem starts to grow too long. The pattern on each "Night Sky" flower changes with temperature. so many of your blooms may change as the growing season progresses. Generally speaking. lower temperatures will produce more white spots. while higher temperatures will result in more purple petals. Typically. you'll see the Milky Way flowers swirling with the most "stars" in the fall as the weather starts to cool.
